Of course each individual person will have their own list and ranking of which Christmas movie they deem to be more classic or nostalgic for them.

In Klaus, lazy Jesper is banished to a remote town to post letters or lose his fortune.
There, he encounters Klaus, a reclusive toymaker. Together, they ignite kindness among the feuding villagers, bridging divides and spreading joy. Jesper, now transformed, stays to continue Klaus’ legacy after Klaus’ departure.
With newfound purpose, he marries and keeps Klaus’ tradition of giving. Klaus will continue to symbolize the power of goodwill and the magic of Christmas for generations to come.
An argument can be made that this film should be ranked much higher on the list, given its amazing visuals and captivating plot.
However, the film came out in 2019 and can hardly be considered a Christmas classic (yet). If you haven’t seen this wintertime film, make sure to add it to your watchlist.

9. Polar Express (2004)
On Christmas Eve, a skeptical boy boards the Polar Express to the North Pole, joined by new friends.
They encounter adventures and challenges before meeting Santa. The boy, chosen to receive the first gift, loses a bell, but Santa returns it. Despite disbelief from others, the bell still rings for those who believe.
The Polar Express may be considered a classic for those born in the 90s, however, there are many more animated films that were released much earlier than 2004.
Still, this film featuring Tom Hanks is a magical winter movie to watch!

8. The Little Drummer Boy (1968)
The Little Drummer Boy follows Aaron, a Jewish boy who loses his family to bandits and vows to hate mankind.
Forced into a troupe, he encounters the Magi caravan and joins their journey to Bethlehem. Despite adversity, Aaron finds redemption in playing his drum for the newborn Jesus.
By doing this, he receives the gift of joy and healing for his companions and himself.
This stop-motion TV special is a wintertime classic. I remember watching this film as a small child at Christmas time.

7. Blue Toes the Christmas Elf (1988)
On Christmas Eve, all the elves at the North Pole are busy preparing Santa’s sleigh except for one young and clumsy elf called Small One.
Despite his efforts, he always seems to break something. Eventually, he is made to patch stockings just to get out of the other elves’ way.
However, he gets a chance to fly with Santa and help deliver presents around-the-world. While with Santa, Small One wishes,“If only I can do something to make Santa Proud of Me.”
His wish comes true during the journey, as he makes a touching sacrifice that earns him the name Bluetoes and leaves a lasting impact on Christmas.
Blue Toes the Christmas Elf is a heartwarming film about a little elf trying to find his place and impress Santa.
I especially enjoyed the supporting character, a funny lost penguin that Small One meets up with. Small One ends up naming the penguin Lonesome.
Together, they get into more trouble, including getting chased by a polar bear!

6. A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
In A Charlie Brown Christmas, Charlie Brown is feeling down about the commercialism of the holiday season.
Charlie is in charge of directing the Christmas play. Despite facing judgment, he chooses a small, struggling tree for the play.
Through Linus’ reminder of the true meaning of Christmas, Charlie Brown finds hope and restores the spirit of the holiday for himself and his friends.
They come together to decorate the tree, symbolizing the beauty and joy that can be found in simplicity and genuine kindness. Together, they reaffirm the true spirit of Christmas.
For many, this nostalgic Christmas special is a staple in their homes during the winter season.
Ever since its debut on December 9, 1965, this special has continued to be watched every Christmas season. With this, the message has become more relevant than ever.

5. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
In Whoville, the Grinch dislikes the Whos’ festive plans and decides to steal Christmas.
Disguised as Santa, he sneaks into town and takes everything festive for the houses.
Back in his cave, he plans to dump the stolen presents from the top of the mountain. Before doing so, he hears something unexpected from Whoville.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a classic because it tells a story of forgiveness and acceptance.
The film also had iconic characters like the Grinch and Cindy Lou Who, along with memorable scenes and catchy songs. All of which have been ingrained into our culture.
Additionally, its message of love, kindness, and the power of community resonates with people, making it a movie that will be watched for many years to come.

4. Rudolf the red-nosed reindeer (1964)
In Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Rudolph is born with a glowing red nose, causing him to be ostracized by his peers.
He goes on a journey with misfit friends Hermey and Yukon Cornelius. Together they encounter the Island of Misfit Toys and the Abominable Snow Monster.
After overcoming obstacles and rescuing his loved ones, Rudolph’s unique nose saves Christmas as he leads Santa’s sleigh through a storm. Rudolph with his red nose, delivers joy to children everywhere.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is another stop-motion winter classic.
I particularly enjoyed the supporting characters like Hermey the Elf and Sam the Snowman. Hermey dreams of being a dentist but is obliged to spend his days making toys.
As for Sam, he narrates the special and introduces himself by saying, “Call me Sam. What’s the matter? Haven’t you ever seen a talking snowman before?”
Throughout the special, Sam tells Rudolph’s story while singing with his banjo. I especially loved the classic song “Silver and Gold.”
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will always remain a classic because it beautifully illustrates themes of acceptance, perseverance, and the importance of being yourself.

3. Frosty the Snowman (1969)
Frosty the Snowman follows the journey of a snowman and a schoolgirl who venture to the North Pole to keep Frosty from melting.
During a snowy day at school, a lousy magician named Professor Hinckle entertains the class. When the bell rings, the children run out to build a snowman and decide to name the snowman Frosty: “Frosty it is, Frosty the Snowman!”
Meanwhile, the magician’s silk magical hat is swept into the sky, where the little girl catches it and puts it onto Frosty’s head. Doing so, causes Frost to come to life and exclaim “Happy Birthday!”
Frosty the Snowman is memorable because it includes many catchy Christmas songs and features the adorable Frosty and the school children.
One scene I love is when Frosty is asked by the policeman “Do you want a ticket, wise guy?” Frosty answers “I would love one!”

2. 2nd Place Christmas Classic- Mickey’s Christmas Carol (1983)
On Christmas Eve, the greedy miser Scrooge (Scrooge McDuck) resents the joy of Christmas until visited by the ghost of his deceased partner, Marley (Goofy). Marley warns of visits by three spirits.
The Ghost of Christmas Past (Jiminy Cricket) reveals Scrooge’s lost love and his love for money over her.
The Ghost of Christmas Present (Willie the Giant) shows Scrooge the struggles of his employees.One employee is Bob Cratchit (Mickey Mouse), and his ill son, Tiny Tim (Morty Mouse).
The Ghost of Christmas Future unveils a bleak future, leading Scrooge to vow to change his ways.
On Christmas morning, transformed, Scrooge spreads joy by donating, accepting invitations, and surprising the Cratchits. He promises to raise Bob’s salary and become his partner, and they celebrate Christmas together.
This 1980s classic teaches the lessons of generosity and compassion and the consequences of greed and selfishness. It also teaches the importance of family and community, and that a person has the ability to change their ways.
Mickey’s Christmas Carol is a leading nostalgic Christmas classic because it features beloved Disney characters in an adaptation of Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol.”
It combines heartwarming holiday themes with memorable animation and storytelling.
So, If you like Disney characters like Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, you will love Mickey’s Christmas Carol!

1. The Top Christmas Classic- Santa Claus is Coming to Town (1970)
In Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town, a postman named S.D. Kluger shares the story of Santa Claus in response to children’s letters.
The tale begins with a baby named Claus arriving in Sombertown, where toys are banned. Raised by elves, Kris brings joy to children by delivering toys despite Mayor Meisterburger’s opposition.
With the help of friends like Jessica and Winter Warlock, Kris becomes Santa Claus and spreads Christmas cheer.
Overcoming obstacles and embracing his destiny, Kris delivers toys to children worldwide on Christmas Eve, embodying the spirit of giving.
Santa Claus is Coming to Town also includes one of my most nostalgic christmas movie songs which is ‘One Foot in front of the Other.’ As a young child, this was a fun song to dance and sing to!
Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town’ ‘ is a classic and nostalgic tale because it combines the sense of magic with the origin story of Santa Claus. We also get to see heartwarming characters like Kris Kringle and his friends, and listen to memorable songs.
I remember falling in love with this film as a kid. I was especially drawn to this film because of the use of stop-motion and the character designs.
Santa Claus is Coming to Town will remain a Christmas classic, particularly for its themes of kindness, generosity, and giving. All of which are what the holidays symbolize.
