In a fifth-grade classroom, Leo the tuatara and Squirtle the turtle face turmoil when their teacher Mrs. Salinas goes on maternity leave. Leo, nearing the end of his life, fears unfulfilled dreams, while Squirtle's jealousy leads to betrayal. Leo's secret ability to talk helps students with their problems until Squirtle exposes him, leading to Leo's abandonment. On Christmas Eve, all the elves at the North Pole are busy preparing Santa’s sleigh except for one young and clumsy elf called Small One. Despite his efforts, he always seems to break something.
Eventually, he is made to patch stockings just to get out of the other elves’ way. However, he gets a chance to fly with Santa and help deliver presents around-the-world. While with Santa, Small One wishes,“If only I can do something to make Santa Proud of Me.” His wish comes true during the journey, as he makes a touching sacrifice that earns him the name Bluetoes and leaves a lasting impact on Christmas.
Blue Toes the Christmas Elf is a heartwarming film about a little elf trying to find his place and impress Santa. I especially enjoyed the supporting character, a funny lost penguin that Small One meets up with.
Small One ends up naming the penguin Lonesome. Together, they get into more trouble, including getting chased by a polar bear! Blue Toes the Christmas Elf is filled with action and mischief, illustrating the themes of persistence and friendship. Be sure to check out this classic winter film!
