In 1948 Havana, Chico and Ramón meet Rita, a singer, sparking a romance. Chico and Rita’s relationship is full of complications, but their love for each other and their music is strong. Chico writes Rita a piano song while in Cuba, and the two perform jazz music together as a duo.
